Woman admits role in large bank fraud

NEWARK— A 57-year-old Middletown woman Wednesday admitted taking part in a scheme to defraud a bank and bank regulators, the U.S Attorney’s Office said in a statement.

Donna Conroy pleaded guilty one count of conspiring to make false entries to deceive a bank and bank regulators and one count of making false entries.

The multi-part scheme took place from 2009 to 2010, initially involving a fraudulent infusion of $7 million in cash into a bank, then to arrange for loans against the cash. Those involved also lied to the bank and to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp to cover sustain the fraud.
