District dishes out $150K settlement over selling booze at school

PERTH AMBOY — The city board of education has paid out $150,000 to settle a five-year-old lawsuit over the illegal selling of alcohol at an elementary school and another settlement could be in the works, court documents show.  

The whistleblower lawsuit was filed in June of 2012 by school secretary Susan Nieves accusing another secretary, Hector Muniz, of peddling dozens of bottles of “coquito” — a rum and coconut milk mixed drink — at the Herbert Richardson Elementary School.
