Boa constrictor bites Ocean County boy, report says

LITTLE EGG HARBOR – A pet boa constrictor bit a child after getting out of its cage on Monday, the Asbury Park Press reported.

Lt. Troy Bezak told the newspaper that the boy suffered a “slight abrasion” near his eye and was brought to the hospital as a precaution.

The incident happened shortly before 6 p.m. on Monday, Bezak said.

A family member took custody of the two-foot-long juvenile snake, the report said.

Boa constrictors are not venomous and rarely attack humans in the wild, the report said.
