N.J. governor candidate Johnson targets Trump, just down the road from his golf club

BEDMINSTER — Standing only a few miles from the private golf club that President Donald Trump owns in this Somerset County township, Democratic candidate for governor Jim Johnson on Tuesday unveiled his plan for how New Jersey can fight back against the Republican president’s “hate-filled” agenda.

Johnson, a former U.S. Treasury official under President Bill Clinton, noted during a news conference that New Jersey — with its diverse and heavily Democratic population — has the crucial distinction of being one of only two states with governor’s races this year, Trump’s first in office.
