Man shot in Plainfield Tuesday

PLAINFIELD — The city’s ShotSpotter gunshot detection system alerted police to a shooting around midnight on Tuesday, and they then found a man walking while injured, according to Police Director Carl Riley.

Riley said it was about midnight when patrol units responded to the 300 block of Liberty Street after receiving the alert.

Shortly after, police found the man who was shot walking in the area of Central Avenue and West Fourth Street. His injuries were not life-threatening, Riley said.

The man was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
