Diner owners who admitted burning down restaurant get probation, report says

NEWTON — The co-owners of the Jerzeez Diner in Vernon were both sentenced Friday to five years probation after admitting to burning down the restaurant for insurance money, the New Jersey Herald reported.

Tina Diakos, 49, and Ozkan Cengiz, 40, both of Butler, were also ordered to pay a total of $323,000 in restitution, the newspaper reported.

No one was injured in the March 2016 fire.
