Ruling throws curveball in Newark's dispute with custodial company

NEWARK — Appellate court judges have reversed a 2016 decision that had blocked a defensive move from the janitorial company fighting the city of Newark‘s bidding processes – dragging on a months-long legal battle over cleaning contracts at 48 city buildings.

In the April 17 decision, Essex County Superior Court Appellate Judges Carmen Messano and Michael Guadagno reversed an earlier decision that denied United Services Incorporated‘s bid to prevent the city from publicly contracting for janitorial services in city-owned buildings while the dispute is being resolved.
