Light rail services returns in Jersey City after man was fatally struck

Service on the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail in Jersey City has returned to normal or close to normal following a fatal accident this morning in which a man was struck by a train.

The victim, whose identity has not yet been released, was fatally hit while walking on the tracks north of the Richard Street light rail station, NJ Transit said. 

Light rail service was suspended between Danforth Avenue and Liberty State Park for several hours following the 8:45 a.m. accident. NJ Transit said substitute bus service serving passengers between Danforth Avenue and LSP will remain on standby.
