Dad who fled with sons, causing massive search, faces sentencing

NEWTON — A father from Hopatcong who disappeared with his two young sons for more than a month in 2015, prompting a massive nationwide search, faces sentencing Friday.

Kristopher Dohm could be sent to prison for up to 10 years when he appears before Superior Court Judge William McGovern.

Dohm, 38, pleaded guilty March 8 to two counts of second-degree interference of custody.

Dohm had a shared parenting agreement with the boys’ mother. She reported them missing on Feb. 9, 2015, when they were not returned to her home in Landing by Dohm.
