State seeks suspension, revocation of prominent psychologist's license

New Jersey officials are seeking to suspend or revoke the license of a prominent psychologist accused of failing to protect the confidentiality of his patients while pursuing unpaid bills through collections agencies.

The state Office of the Attorney General filed a complaint with the Board of Psychological Examiners seeking action against Dr. Barry Helfmann, a managing partner of the Short Hills Associates in Clinical Psychology, which employs a dozen associates in Springfield and Mendham.
