'Moulin Rouge' director Baz Luhrmann named Princeton's Class Day speaker

PRINCETON — Princeton University has announced that Baz Luhrmann, the director best known for “Moulin Rouge!” and “The Great Gatsby,” will be this year’s Class Day speaker.

The Australian native will address graduates and their families June 5, the day before commencement.

His other films include “Strictly Ballroom,” “Romeo and Juliet,” and “Australia.” His first series, “The Get Down,” about the birth of hip-hop in the 1970s, premiered on Netflix last year.
