Former county executive pays for breaking campaign finance rules

Former Bergen County Executive Kathleen Donovan and two of her aides have agreed to pay a total of $2,500 to the state for breaking election finance rulesaccording to a settlement published by the state’s Election Law Enforcement Commission.

Donovan and her treasurers, Thomas Bruinooge and Ronald Gravino, failed to properly document donations to her campaign and file paperwork on time during the 2014 primary and general elections, according to the commission’s decision.

The commission initially brought the complaint against Donovan and her aides in July 2016, and the $2,500 fine was the final settlement of the allegations.
