Damaged inlet wall at Shore gets temporary fix

POINT PLEASANT BEACH — A gaping hole in the wall of the Manasquan Inlet in Point Pleasant Beach has been patched but borough officials say it’s a very temporary fix.

A work crew patched the nearly 12-foot-wide hole with steel sheeting last week to stanch the flow of seawater that has eroded the shore for the past month.

But Mayor Stephen Reid said it’s not a permanent solution. There’s still the issue of the sprawling crater left behind and the leaks that remain in the wall.
