Former N.J. man convicted of murder loses appeal

TRENTON — A former Long Branch man convicted of murder and attempted murder isn’t getting out of prison, an appellate court said in turning down his appeal.

Rashaan Lewis, serving a 45-year sentence for a 2006 fatal shooting outside a bar in Long Branch, contended his defense attorneys made mistakes during his trial and his appeal that denied him a fair trial.
