Wrong-way cop reeked from 'very strong odor' of booze, paramedic testifies

STATEN ISLAND — As former Linden police officer Pedro Abad was being taken to a hospital after being pulled from his mangled car, the stench of alcohol filled the ambulance, a paramedic testified Monday.

Lauren Hartnett, a New York Fire Department paramedic, told the jury Abad reeked of booze — from his pores, from the bloody gashes from the horrific crash and every time she pulled a ventilator mask from his face.

“This was a very, very, very strong odor,” Hartnett told the jury.
