Music a stepping stone to student's success | Editorial

It’s simply amazing how transformative music can be. That has been borne out by the Trenton Music Makers, a relatively new after-school program that has opened new worlds of sounds and opportunities to city children.

Started in February 2015 by the Trenton Community Music School in partnership with the city’s school district, Trenton Music Makers is modeled after the now internationally renowned El Sistem music program that was started by activist musician Jose Antonio Abreu in Venezuela in 1975 as a way to give impoverished children access to classical music.
