Yes, that storm last week was a blizzard in parts of N.J.

In some parts of New Jersey, last week’s massive winter storm was condemned as a dud because it dropped more rain than snow. In others, however, the storm was bad enough to be classified as a blizzard, according to a preliminary review by the National Weather Service.

The weather service’s regional forecast office in Upton, N.Y., said its review found the March 14 storm met the technical definition of a blizzard in western Passaic County, as well as in Sussex County, the nearby lower Hudson Valley in New York, and also in interior southern Connecticut.
