Ex-school board member appointed to vacant Hamilton council seat

HAMILTON — A former Hamilton school board member has been appointed to fill a vacant seat on the township council.

Dina Thornton 

Dina Thornton was appointed with a 4-0 vote Friday after the council publicly interviewed three candidates.

The seat became vacant after Councilman Ed Gore resigned Feb. 16 to return to his former position as a public defender amid the township’s need for an additional one to comply with the state’s bail reform.

Thornton was among 11 people the township’s Republican committee screened before narrowing the list to three.
