Blaze guts abandoned house in Penns Grove, official says

PENNS GROVE — A blaze ripped through an abandoned house in the borough early Monday morning, authorities say.

Penns Grove’s Liberty Fire Co. responded at 4:45 a.m. to 69 Willis St. for a fully-involved building, according to Liberty Chief Adam Hartsough.

Crews were on the scene until around 8 a.m., the chief said.

The blaze – the cause of which remains undetermined — gutted the building.

Companies responding to assist Liberty Fire Co. were the Carneys Point Fire and Rescue Co., Deepwater Fire Co., Pennsville Fire and Rescue Co.  and Reliance Fire Co.
