ACME the latest to offer heroin antidote without prescription in N.J.

MALVERN, Pa. — Pharmacies in 57 New Jersey ACME stores will sell the heroin antidote naloxone without a prescription, the company announced Monday.

The company previously offered naloxone in its Pennsylvania store pharmacies.

The New Jersey ACME pharmacies brings the total number of AMEs in both states offering naloxone to 96, the company announced.

Chain pharmacies Walgreens started offering it prescription-less in 2016 and CVS in 2015, in New Jersey.

Naloxone, often sold under the brand name Narcan, is a nasal or injected medicine that can reverse the effects of heroin or opiate drugs in minutes.
