BRIDGETON — Two men were arrested Friday in connection with an assault and robbery, according to city police.
A resident alerted passing officers to an assault on the 400 block of East Broad Street late Friday evening.
The victim told the officers he had just been attacked and robbed of a cellphone, police said.
Acting on a description provided by the victim, officers arrested Elijah F. Chestnut, 22, of Vineland, and Marcus Ledbetter, 24, of Bridgeton, a short time later.
Both were taken into custody without incident and charged with robbery, conspiracy, theft and assault. Chestnut and Ledbetter were placed in Cumberland County Jail.
