JC Penney announces 1 N.J. store closure, lists 138 nationwide

MIDDLE TWP. – JC Penney announced it will close one of its New Jersey locations amid a larger plan to shutter 138 stores in the United States.

The closure list released Friday includes the JC Penney location at the Rio Grande Plaza in Middle Township, Cape May County. JC Penney has 14 other stores in New Jersey.

The company also plans to close five locations in Pennsylvania including stores in King of Prussia, Philadelphia and Willow Grove.

The retailer announced the closures earlier this year after reporting a drop in sales for the fourth-quarter last year.
