Accused burglar arrested 3 times, released twice will now stay in jail

ELIZABETH — A man who was released on burglary charges, and then allegedly committed additional break-ins before he was arrested again, now has waived any request for a court hearing on his possible release from custody.

Duwad Ward, 23, who faces charges in four different counties, appeared in court again Friday, and his lawyer told a judge he would not seek a hearing to fight his detention.

“There is no need for a detention hearing,” Ward’s attorney, Mary Ellen Gaffney told Judge Brenda Coppola Cuba. “My client is not opposed to the motion for this detention,” Gaffney said.
