It cost Sussex County $347K to clean up after this week's nor'easter

NEWTON — The snowstorm that hit New Jersey on Tuesday was messy and, for one especially hit hard county, rather expensive.

Sussex County government is estimating that its response to the storm cost $347,362.

The mailbox outside Vernon Mayor Harry Shortway’s home, being enveloped by snow Tuesday 

In reaching that calculation, the county cited factors ranging from equipment usage and overtime, to materials such as salt.

Snow totals in Sussex ranged from 12 inches to 23 inches, according to the county.
