Nor'easter's tides blast hole in inlet wall at Shore

POINT PLEASANT BEACH — A popular fishing spot in Point Pleasant Beach is off limits after high tides in Tuesday’s nor’easter blasted a gaping hole in the cement bulkhead at the Manasquan Inlet.

Borough officials made small repairs to that section of the wall in the past but those temporary fixes couldn’t hold up against the force of the storm’s tides on Tuesday, said Mayor Stephen Reid.

“It’s bad. There’s no other word for it,” Reid said of the condition of the wall in that section of the bulkhead. “I can’t have anyone going near that bulkhead. It’s very dangerous.”
