BRIDGETON — Purported Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office employees have been calling people, pressuring local residents for money in exchange for not being arrested for missing jury duty.
Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office sent out an announcement informing residents of the scam.
“The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office does not conduct business in this way,” said Sheriff Robert Austino in the announcement. “The sheriff’s office would like to remind the residents to never pay anyone over the phone. If you receive a call about jury duty and the issuances of a warrant please hang up and call the local authorities.”
