UPPER PITTSGROVE TWP. — An accident on state Route 77 early Tuesday left about 1,000 electric customers in the dark.
According to state police at the Woodstown Station, a Dodge pickup truck struck a utility pole in the southbound lanes of the roadway near its intersection with Garrison Road.
The accident, reported at 7:51 a.m., damaged the pole and brought down wires, causing the power outage.
The unidentified driver of the truck was uninjured, state police said.
There were also reportedly some lane closures on Route 77 as the accident was cleared.
