BOONTON TOWNSHIP – A Boonton Township police officer has filed a lawsuit claiming injuries he’s sustained over the course of his career were improperly used as reasons not to promote him, the Daily Record reports.
Officer Paul Ryan, a 13-year-veteran of the force, has accused the township and police department of employment discrimination, retaliation, harassment, civil rights violations and disparate treatment, the report says.
After Ryan took the sergeant exam in 2011, he believed he’d be next in line to receive a promotion at the 13-member department, the report says.
