OCEANPORT – A borough police officer and lifelong resident of Oceanport died Friday after a one-year battle with cancer.
Officer Patrick Gornik was at home and surrounded by loved ones when he passed away, Oceanport officials announced Friday.
“It’s a sad time for the police department and a sad time for Oceanport,” an emotional Mayor Michael Mahon said via telephone Saturday morning. “Pat has been a part of this community his entire life and was a guy who touched a lot of people’s lives.”
