Delaware River water levels continue to rise near Trenton causing road closures and flood warnings

TRENTON — Water pushed to flood stage by an ice-choked Delaware River tonight sent water pouring onto Route 29 south and forced the closure of several highway ramps earlier in the day.

The ice jam near the Calhoun Street bridge also prompted local emergency management officials to issue voluntary evacuation orders to flood-prone sections of the city along the river such as the Island and Glen Afton. Other communities along the river were also on the alert for possible problems.
