HIGH BRIDGE — Custom Alloy Corp. is again hosting a Community Day, with guided tours of its manufacturing facility here, this year on Saturday, Oct. 5.
High Bridge has been home to Custom Alloy since 1982, but the Washington Avenue location was originally the site of Taylor-Wharton Iron and Steel Co. predecessor United Iron Works, which began operating a forge there in 1742.
