Democrat Rush Holt handily wins Hunterdon primary but Cory Booker prevails statewide

Democrats in Hunterdon County chose Rush Holt, a Congressman whose district formerly included parts of the county, as their favorite in Tuesday’s party primary to decide who will run for the U.S. Senate seat created by the death of Frank Lautenberg in June.

But statewide, Newark Mayor Cory Booker has easily prevailed in the Democratic primary, with incomplete results showing him well ahead of this three rivals: Rep. Frank Pallone, state Assembly Speaker Sheila Oliver and Holt.
